Volunteer with Snow Buddy
At Snow Buddy Sled Dog Refuge, volunteering means becoming part of something bigger — a community united by the thrill of adventure, the love of animals, and the magic of the Alaskan sled dog tradition. You’ll make memories, learn new skills, and form bonds that last a lifetime
How You Can Help
Volunteer Roles That Make a Difference
We’re always looking for caring, adventurous people to help our sled dogs thrive. Volunteers are the heartbeat of Snow Buddy — without you, there’d be no sleds, no wagging tails, and no mushing magic. Whatever your skills, there’s a place for you here.
Dog Care Crew
Spend your time with the real stars of the show — our dogs! Help with feeding, grooming, kennel cleaning, and plenty of playtime. You’ll get to know each dog’s personality and be a part of their daily happiness.
Trail Team
Love the outdoors? Help prepare, maintain, and groom our trails so they’re safe and smooth for mushing runs. This role is perfect for those who enjoy physical activity and working in nature.
Mushing Assistants
Get a front-row seat to the action by helping prepare sleds, harness dogs, and assist mushers before, during, or after runs. You’ll learn the ropes of sled dog handling while supporting this incredible sport.
Who Can Volunteer
Age-Friendly Activities for Everyone
We welcome volunteers of all ages (under 18 with a guardian) and skill levels — no sled dog or mushing experience needed! We provide full training; all we ask is a positive attitude, a love for dogs, and a willingness to get your paws a little muddy. Whether you can help a few hours a month or a few days a week, we’ll work with your schedule, with extra appreciation for consistency in hands-on dog care.

Hear From Volunteers
They planned a scenic drive for our anniversary with multiple stops, music we loved, and even a surprise photo spot at sunset. It felt like luxury with heart.

We booked Go first class charter tours for an executive airport transfer and a group wine tour. Both experiences were flawless. Their attention to detail and personal service made all the difference.

Our group tour felt like a VIP experience. The van was spacious and cool, the guide was warm and knowledgeable, and the entire day flowed perfectly. We saw Sedona through the eyes of a local.
