About

Where Purpose Meets Rescue in the Heart of Colorado

At Snow Buddy Sled Dog Refuge, we believe every sled dog deserves more than just survival—they deserve purpose, care, and connection. From our base in Northwest Colorado, we rescue and rehabilitate sled dogs who’ve been abandoned, overworked, or forgotten. Through our sled dog adventures, kids’ camps, and educational programs, we help people connect with animals, build empathy, and support our mission with every ride.

Snow Buddy Sled Dog Refuge began in Northwest Colorado to give sled dogs a better life. Today, it's a refuge and community built on rescue, education, and adventure.

The process

How it works

We Give Them Purpose

They’re adopted or become part of our sled dog team.

You Make It Possible

Every booking or donation directly supports their journey.

Driven by Purpose

Why Sled Dogs?

Sled dogs are strong, social, and built for the trail—but many are left behind when they can no longer race or pull. We step in to give them what they truly need: care, companionship, and a chance to be dogs again.

We believe every sled dog deserves:

We started this refuge to give sled dogs the life they deserve. Thank you for being part of their journey.

Mushing in a Modern World

We’re not just preserving an ancient practice—we’re reintroducing it as a way to connect with the outdoors. In a fast-paced world, mushing teaches us to slow down, build trust, and experience the quiet strength of nature and teamwork.

It’s not just about the trail—it’s about the bond between human and dog. Each run is a return to something real, grounded, and wild.
